Sony has teased that major PS5 games that could make the console or a success or turn it into a huge failure. The company hasn’t officially confirmed any PS5 launch titles but there are rumors thatHorizon Zero Dawn 2will be a PS5 launch titleand thatDeath StrandingandGhost of Tsushimawill be available too.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz about what the company is planning next PlayStation CEO and president Jim Ryan expressed confidence and excitement about thePS5. Ryan’s work is now on the games “that will make or break PlayStation 5, just as they do every platform.” The PlayStation CEO didn’t offer any suggestions on what these games may be, butGran Turismo 7, a free to play version ofPlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, andPlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale 2have been rumored as PS5 launch titles.

Ryan may not have shared information on these hugely important PS5 games, but he did give fans an idea of how the company is making things easier for developers with the new console. The PlayStation CEO revealed that developers and publishers have said that “the ease in which they are able to get code running on PlayStation 5 is way beyond any experience they’ve had on any other PlayStation platform.” ThePS3 had some incredible games, but it was notoriously difficult to develop for. The PS4 did make things easier but it seems that Sony is hoping to go much further with that, so that no one sees technical limitations as a hurdle to releasing their games on the PS5.
Sony has a release challenge on its hands with the PS5. ThePS4 has sold more than 100 million unitsafter getting off to a great start against the Xbox One and then building its lead with the release of great games. Many will be looking to the company to see how it can keep building upon that or if it will drop the ball, making poor decisions with the PS5’s launch games as well as its pricing.
The PS5 will also be up against the next Xbox console, Project Scarlett, andstreaming services such as Google Stadia. None of these will be easy to take on and beat, but if fans are as excited about the PS5’s games as Ryan is, Sony will be onto a big success.
