Soul Hackers 2’s latest update is now live, which gives the game a few quality-of-life improvements, along with some new demons for players to fuse and summon. This game is a cyberpunk-infused sequel spin-off of theShin Megami Tenseifranchise, while also being a sequel to the original from 1997. It contains familiar elements like the demon fusion mechanic, and it also launched on every modern gaming platform, except the Nintendo Switch.

Soul Hackers 2’s reception has been split between fans and critics, where some found the game fair, while others found it rather too derivative of thePersonaseries despite being a sequel to the original and were quite critical of it after launch. This includes critiques of the dungeon design, DLC practices, and overall game design. Despite the mixed opinion, Atlus has plans to continue supporting the game with free updates, with the first of these now live. This includes quality-of-life improvements as well as adding some fan-favorite demons.

The full list ofchanges toSoul Hackers 2was listed on both Atlus' official website, along with a trailer posted on Sega’s official channel. This trailer showcases all of the changes made to the game, including ones that increase the game’s speed in a few ways. One of these is the “Fast Battle” mode, where players can freely toggle between a normal and high-speed combat mode. This update also adds a Dash function, which will increase Ringo’s walking, running, and slash speeds. With the addition of this Dash function, it notably affects the Summoner Skill “Assassin’s Steps” which has its effects changed as well.

The game also adds four newdemons to fuse inSoul Hackers 2, these include a new version of Pixie from the originalSoul Hackers, Aitvaras, Neko Shogun, and Isis. These demons don’t count towards the Registration and Demon Compendium, meaning that these demons won’t need to be created if players are looking to get the “Compendium Completionist” achievement.

A number of smaller quality-of-life improvements have been made, such as the ability to fast travel to shops on the city map, on-screen prompts being modified to reduce the risk of incorrect inputs, the skill inheritance function during demon fusion, along with the fees needed to summon from the compendium having been adjusted. DespiteSoul Hackers 2selling below expectations, there are going to be other free updates to follow after this one, with Atlus and Sega hoping this will help boost sales.

Soul Hackers 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
