A grocery store in Poland is apparently giving away free copies ofFallout 76for people who buy a box of pierogi dumplings. Despite its lukewarm reception at launch, the five-year-oldFallout 76has become better than it originally wasand is now a more-than-passable experience while people wait forFallout 5.
Fallout 76was released back in November 2018, at first to tepid reactions, but itsWastelandersexpansion proved to be a great fix in the same wayA Realm RebornsavedFinal Fantasy 14. Free Fallout 76 Copies With Every Box of Pierogi
Over on r/gaming, Redditor Code412 posted a photo that seems to be of a grocery store in Poland offering a free physical copy ofFallout 76for every box of pierogi (Polish dumplings) purchased. A quick Google image search shows that it actually seems to be a manipulated photo of a real promotion from years ago that was giving away other lesser-known games with the food. While some Redditors didn’t realize the picture was fake and made jokes in the comments, others chimed in thatFallout 76truly is worth checking out now.
Meanwhile, developer Bethesda has been hard at work making the game as good as it can be today. The game’s current major story event,Expeditions: Atlantic City, started in December 2023 with theBoardwalk Paradiseupdate and will conclude in March 2024 with theAmerica’s Playgroundpatch, giving players enough new content to really sink their teeth into. In between those big patches, Bethesda also justreleased an update forFallout 76in Januarythat not only fixed bugs, but also introduced new seasonal events for February. With a loaded slate, 2024 is looking to be a big year for the game—its sixth after release—with a new map expansion and more original story content on the way.
One possible reason why Bethesda is hard at work maintaining the game may also be to accommodate potential new players after theupcomingFalloutTV series premieres on Prime Videothis April. Early reactions from hardcore fans look positive, so one can expect a lot of people’s interest to be piqued enough to try playing the games. WithFallout 5likely still years away,Fallout 76is the newest experience people can flock to, and it’s only a good thing for the developer to make sure it’s the best it can be.
