In an Instagram post shared by @bosslogic, one artist imaginedSwift as X-Men character Dazzler. Featured briefly inX-Men: The Animated Series, the mutant is a pop star who can transform sound into light. A perfect ability for any performer, Swift would be a welcome addition to the cast in this role.
Fan images like these have kicked the rumor mill into high gear. It is no secret that Swift is friendly with Reynolds, being pictured with theDeadpoolactor and his wife, Blake Lively, at sporting events and the like. If Dazzler is included inDeadpool 3, securing the singer for the role would seemingly be easy.
Including her in the imminent franchise film would be a meta-inclusion that fits right into the tone ofDeadpool, but it could also cement Swift as a Hollywood actor. Her previous attempts at segueing into acting have not had the best outcome. Through no fault of her own, it seems theShake It Offsinger only had a bad habit of picking projects doomed to fail. The uncanny valley aspect ofthe musicalCatseven turned off Andrew Lloyd Webber. Despite David O. Russell’s impressive filmography,Amsterdamflopped spectacularly at the box office, andThe Giverwas no better. Getting cast in a big Marvel Studios movie would save her acting career if that is something that she chooses to pursue.
But of course, this is just a rumor. There has been no confirmation that Dazzler will appear inDeadpool 3. Most confirmed cameos are from Marvel veterans who have yet to jump to the MCU. Many originalX-Mencast members are rumored to appear inDeadpool 3, and there may not be room for cameos of characters who have yet to have a significant role in live-action. If it ever happens, however, Swift would be the obvious choice to play the mutant.
