Third-person shooterThe Division 2continues to receive semi-frequent updates, many of them game-changing, with the recently detailed Update 12 being no exception. Besides a slew of new weapons, global events, and cosmetic options, arguably the most exciting addition toThe Division 2is the inclusion of a new stat-altering optimization station designed to bring the best out of any gun.

As loot is an integral part ofThe Division 2experience, randomly generated stat modifiers can produce surprisingly effective stats in unexpected guns as easily as it can generate lackluster stats in a weapon. Update 12 aims to provide players a compliment to the existing re-calibration station, now enabling them to not only re-roll the stats of a gun, but utilize a new currency-type resource to increase those stats to their potential maximums. This can bring new life to an old favorite weapon, bring a specific gun up to par forend-game content within The Summit, or encourage some more variable build diversity independent of a particularly inspiring random stat.

Newly added rotating rewards from completing The Summit’s challenges include bonus XP, specialization-specific loot, and of course summit caches containing re-calibration and optimization materials.

While expensive, the option to grind out undesirable stats on a gun or reinforce wanted bonuses will prove a worthwhile endeavor in the face of new challenges being added to the game, as the shot ofnew content forThe Division 2will be plenty for fans to explore and play around with. Additionally, quality of life changes to menus and missions serve to further polishThe Division 2’salready sleek gameplay loop, with the ability to now reposition turrets, an increase of the player’s inventory cap to 150 units, and a new global event to be revealed nearer the release of Update 12, which has yet to announce its release date.

Even thoughThe Division 2is far fromUbisoft’s flagship franchiseat the moment, the team behind the game and their continued support’s pacing spell out many healthy years for the looter-shooter nearly twelve major updates in and rapidly approaching two years old in March.
