The Game Awards is now the video game industry’s big annual award show, and the December event always has plenty of announcements and surprises to make any fan happy. Tonight’s event was hosted again by Geoff Keighley to hand out numerous accolades to studios and creators in the industry.
While this year’s awards show couldn’t have a live audience, the producers still made sure to create an engaging experience through interactive programming, airing on multiple platforms, and promoting co-streams of the event. The Game Awards also featuredpresenters such as Gal Gadot, Keanu Reeves, Reggie Fils-Aimé, and other entertainment industry professionals to give fans a memorable show.

Arguably, the most anticipated award of the night is that of Game of the Year. Quite a variety of genres were up for the award this year, and if any of the games had won, they would have been in good company with winners such as last year’sSekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Going into the night,TheLast of Us Part IIled the pack with nine nominations, including Game of the Year. Other games such asHades,Ghost of Tsushima, andFinal Fantasy VII Remakealso received multiple nominations.
