On Friday, the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2022 event featured reveals for over a dozen upcoming games. The upcoming releases were incredibly diverse, but standing out among the unique offerings was the announcement ofWreckreation. Developed by Three Fields Entertainment,Wreckreationis an open-world sandbox driving game. WhileWreckreationis yet to receive a release date,THQ Nordic’s confirmed it’s planned for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as PC.
Wreckreationis, at its heart, a racing game. It’s not just a racing game, however.Wreckreation’s foundation is a 400 square kilometeropen-world mapnamed the MixWorld. Every player will have their own MixWorld, within which they’re able to “create, shape – and wreck.” This sandbox will allow players to drive and race as they please, creating races, stunts, and everything between as they please. Jumps, loops, half-pipes, and even moving obstacles can be placed across the world and even high into the sky.

It would be quite lonely to create aWreckreationmap full of intenseracing experiencesand then not be able to share it with friends. That’s why Three Fields Entertainment has built multiplayer intoWreckreationin multiple ways. Players will be able to race against each other, visit friends' and other creators' worlds, share designs, and more. There’s even a leaderboard system for multiple different racing game modes, including Drift, Air, Near Miss, Stunt, Crash, and Time modes.
Three Fields Entertainment also wants to call attention toWreckreation’s customization options. Befitting a racing game,Wreckreationfeatures 16 different music channels to listen to, which implies a solid amount of music to be included.Wreckreationwill also feature Spotify connectivity, so players can listen to their own music playlists. Vehicle customization is certainly a major priority, too. Whether it’s paint coloring, tires, or even engine sounds, players will get to drive the vehicle that suits them inWreckreation.
Developer Three Fields Entertainment is bringing a range of experience with it to the development ofWreckreationthat’s worth nothing, too. Three Fields is perhaps best known for its oddball sports gameDangerous Golf, though its uniqueBurnoutCrash mode-inspired seriesDanger Zoneis also worth acknowledging.Wreckreationseems like the team’s biggest game yet, though, so it’ll truly be a test of Three Field’s potential.
As noted,Wreckreationcurrently doesn’t have an announced release window. Those interested in finding out more can follow THQ Nordic on social media orwishlist the game on Steam. Expect more news in the months ahead, but it may be until 2023 before a deeper look atWreckreationis made available.
