Unicorn Overlord: Afflictions Guide

Poison

A poisoned character will suffer damage proportional to their max HP before using an active skill. Players can apply this effect with a variety of active skills, including theThief’s Toxic Throw, theArbalist’s Toxic Bolt, theDark Knight’s Venom Axe, and theWerefox’s Venom Thrust. There is also equipment that gives access to poison-based skills, such as the Viperfang sword and the Necromancer’s Lantern accessory.

Burn

A burning character will suffer damage before using an active skill, and this affliction can stack, thereby increasing damage taken. TheWyvern Master’s Fire Breath is a great way to apply that effect to many targets, and there is equipment, such as the Flame Javelin and Flame Bow, that providesUnicorn Overlordcharacterswith skills that can burn enemies.

Freeze

A frozen character is rendered unable to act, and they will remain frozen until they are hit with an attack. This effect can be applied with several class skills, including theSorceress’s Icebolt and Ice Coffin, theElven Archer’s Icicle Arrow, and theSnow Ranger’s Glacial Rain and Snow-White Strike. There are also many pieces of equipment that make it possible to freeze enemies, and players who find the effect useful should definitely considerequipping Yahna with the Frostbrand Tome.

Stun

A stunned character is rendered unable to act, and they will remain stunned until after their next action. There is no shortage of class skills that are capable of stunning foes, and fans ofstrategy gameswill find thatWarriors, Knights, Dark Marquess, Elven Augurs, Elven Fencers, Werebears, and Dreadnoughtsare all capable of generating the effect. There is also equipment, including the Crushing Axe, Silver Trident, and Bow of Swiftness, that give characters access to stun, making it one of the most common afflictions in the game.

Blindness

A blinded character will miss their next attack. This is an extremely powerful effect, and it can be produced by aRogue’s Shadowbite active skill and aWerefox’s Shadow Pursuit passive. That said, the best way to generate the affliction isequipping Selvie with the Dustbound Staff, a weapon that is earned by competing in the Colosseum. Indeed, that staff gives the Shaman access to Sandstrom, an active skill that inflicts blindness on all enemies, and it will significantly improve almost anyunit inUnicorn Overlord.

Passive Seal

A character suffering from Passive Seal will not be able to use Passive Skills. As is the case with blindness,Rogues and Werefoxesare theclasses inUnicorn Overlordthat will inflict this affliction by default, and fans can use equipment like the Eliminator axe if they want to give other characters access to Passive Seal.

Guard Seal

A character suffering from Guard Seal cannot guard. Cover skills can still be used, but they will suffer standard damage. This is perhaps the easiest seal to generate, asWarriors, Druids, Rogues, Lords, Werefoxes, and Dreadnoughtsall have skills that inflict it.Tactical RPGfans can also equip the Armored Gauntlets to give another class access to Guard Seal.

Critical Seal

A character suffering from Critical Seal cannot crit. While this affliction is not listed in the in-game library, it can be inflicted with theShaman’s Quick Curse passive skill.

Deathblow

A character afflicted with deathblow is instantly reduced to 0 HP, rendering them incapacitated. The Eliminator axe grants a skill that inflicts a deathblow if the target is at 25% HP or less.
