Summary
Pokemongames always introduce new tricks and features with every game, ranging from the generation’s core battle gimmick to something more encompassing like regional forms or Paradox Pokemon, essentially making each new title unique and appealing in different ways. Cross-gen evolutions are often a great way to add a breath of fresh air to newPokemongames because they can both revitalize overlooked or underused evolutionary lines and shake the meta entirely by adding powerful critters or type combos.Gen 10Pokemongamescan capitalize on this potential quite a lot with the Unova region, even more thanPokemon Scarlet and Violetdid.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Kingambitand the two Paradox forms of Volcarona both pay homage to Unova in a great way, especially since all these critters are also quite good in terms of competitive play, with Kingambit winning several tournaments. Still, Unova single-handedly added more Pokemon to the franchise than any other game, even Gen 1, and dedicating multiple cross-gen evolutions to the region could be a good idea for Gen 10.

Simisage, Simisear, and Simipour
The so-called “elemental monkeys” that came with Gen 5 have been quite a controversial point in recent talks due to their absence from the Switch, and with rumors of aPokemon Legends Unovagame on the horizon, these three Pokemon could enjoy some time in the limelight. Gen 10Pokemongames could not only bring Simisage, Simisear, and Simipour back, but it could give them evolutions, too. Since they act like secondary starters in Gen 5 due to their types, a cross-gen evolution for each of them makes sense, and they could even gain a new type altogether.
Zebstrika
Zebstrika is arguably one of the most loved Gen 5 critters, and if thePokemon Black and White 3leaksare true, or if Gen 10 decides to give past critters some love, it would be great to give this zebra-like Pokemon a whole new evolution. A Zebstrika cross-gen evolution in Gen 10 would become the talk of the community quite quickly, especially since this critter is already not bad in terms of battle prowess, but a bump to its stats, a new powerful Ability, or an additional type on top of Electric could make its evolution amazing.
Audino
WhilePokemon X and Y’s Mega Evolutions didn’t give Audino its own new form, Gen 3 remakes did, and Mega Audino became quite popular and also quite powerful. SinceMega Evolutions are unlikely to ever come backin full force given the exclusivity of past battle gimmicks, Audino could benefit from a regular evolution, and Gen 10 could be the place for it. Not helped by its stats and Normal-type, Audino’s cross-gen evolution could make the Pokemon much more impactful in many ways - especially with its base form then becoming eligible to use the Eviolite held item to boost its Defense and Special Defense, making it a good pick on its own.
Swanna
Swanna is not among thebest critters inPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Teal Mask DLC, despite the Kitakami Pokedex being so small, and that’s because the pocket monster itself was never truly great to begin with. A 4x weakness to Electric, sub-par stats and Abilities, and great competition when it comes to good Water-type Pokemon never made Swanna a compelling option. That could change with aPokemonGen 10 cross-gen evolution for it, though, as the critter could finally rise to new heights even while retaining its current type if it were to be given a new movepool and improved stats and Abilities, making it stand out more and maybe even become good.
