ThisXenoblade Chroniclesseries is known for being incredibly long. The same is true forXenoblade Chronicles 3,although it is a bit easier to steamroll through the main quest to get to the end than in previous chapters. Depending on the difficulty chosen, it could take around forty to fifty hours if players manage their time well.

It’s been a few weeks sinceXenoblade Chronicles 3came out, and for those that have managed to finish it, they may be stuck asking themselves a lot of questions. What plot lines were left unanswered for a potential sequel? Let’s find out in thisspoiler-filled breakdownof the game.

7The Origins Of Aionios

It is never stated how long ago Aionios was established. At one point the worlds of the first two games collided together, with Nia and Melia seemingly being the only carryovers. How long did it take for the Consuls to appear along with Zed leading them? Many characters express that they have existed for many lifetimes, like Triton whoseems to be one of the oldest Consuls around. Aionios could have existed for hundreds of years, if not thousands, but fans are never answered.

6The Worlds Of Nia And Melia

How did the melding of the two worlds work exactly? Did half of one world and half of the other collide to create the middle ground? Why were Melia and Nia the only two that crossed over, or were there more? In the end credits, there is one other character that pops up, Poppi, who was fromXenoblade Chronicles 2.

On the other side, Meliareveals that shehas the Monado. Did more characters cross over and die with Nia and Melia somehow outlasting them, or were they just trapped in another world this whole time?

5Issues With Lucky Seven

There is a flashback that reveals Riku has a powerful blade known as Lucky Seven. He never reveals how he got it, which is a big deal since this is a legendary sword. It’s also a mystery as to why two blades can exist on the same plane of existence. Time travel is never established in the game.Xenoblade Chronicles 3is more like atime loop scenario, so in theory, only one blade should exist.

Double blades aside, why was this blade so powerful? Given that Noah knows that, why then does he throw it in the ocean at the end as if no one will attempt to find it? The ocean is deep, so the chances are unlikely. Still feels like a bad idea, though. Melia was smart enough to keep the Monado even though that too could be dangerous in the wrong hands.

4Seeing Doubles

Lucky Seven brings into question another issue with the game besides iftime travel exists. How can two blades exist at one time, and how can two Noahs and two Mios exist as well? The Moebius versions of them, N and M, steal the life force from other people, thus prolonging their lives.

It makes sense why they can live past the ten-year death mark, but how was another set of the two born? Can anyone be reborn even without dying? Could a clone army of just Noah, for example, be possible with the technology of Moebius?

3The Nopon

Xenoblade Chronicles 3has a mixture of races from the first two games, nicely diversifying the cast. Every race can be reborn except one: the Nopon. While it could be possible that they too run on a cycle, that doesn’t seem to be the case on either side of the war. What purpose do they serve the world? Are they mechanics and chefs doomed to live to serve, or are they more like guardians of the planet? Riku seems to know more than he leads on, like with the Lucky Seven blade. What is he hiding inthis massive RPG?

2The Ten-Year Limit

What’s the purpose of giving everyone a ten-year limit on their lives? The point of the conflict is merely a game for the Consuls. That much is established if players are paying attention.

The Consuls need to drain their life forces so that they can live longer. While they could just hatch them from their canisters, it is seemingly more fun to win through battle. Putting a ten-year limit is odd though, even with this knowledge at hand. Also, some characters look much older at their ten-year mark than others, likeTeach and Isurd, which is also never explained.

1Guest Characters Not Being Important

Eventually, players will unlock the seventh slotfor guest characters. All but one character can be swapped out in the menu at any time. They are important for their respective stories, but after being recruited, it’s like they’re not there anymore.

The strangest companion to join the team is the aforementioned Triton. He is a Consul but deserted Zed’s evil ways and lives his life freely with his crew. Shouldn’t he speak up more on cutscenes, given his position? The same is true for the rest of this huge side cast, which is a common problem in RPGs.
