The third-person cooperative survival gameValheimhas had one of the most impressive Early Access launches in Steam’s history. Over six million copies ofValheimhave been sold and developer Iron Gate AB has yet to release its first content update. Yet as sales taper, Iron Gate AB’s attention grows all the more focused on bringingValheimcloser to its final release. In its latest update, Iron Gate AB shared some details and screenshots that point toward what’s coming next inValheim.
As dedicatedValheimplayers likely already know, Iron Gate AB is hard at work on the game’s first significant post-launch content update. That update has been referred to asValheim’s Hearth and Home updateseveral times so far. In an update uploaded toValheim’s Steam profile, Iron Gate AB teased some of what could be included in the update. Specifically, there are two images. The first appears to show a pair of boots and the second shows what looks like a hole in the ground.

Early speculation hasValheimplayers saying the first image is perhaps hinting at new furniture, as the boots are positioned as if the player is sitting on a throne. It could also be an armor stand with the boots at the bottom, too. Some guess it could hint at boots as a core piece of equipment, but that could be a reach. The second picture, the hole in the ground, is speculated to either be anewValheimresourcelike gold or the rumored tar pits.
As for when players will be able to experience the Hearth and Home update for themselves,Valheimisn’t ready to share.Iron Gate ABsays it isn’t going to rush the update, and that means not announcing a release date until the team is happy with its content and polish. Iron Gate AB asks fans to be patient for the time being.
To make up for the lack of a release date, Iron Gate AB shared something else to look forward to. A separate patch arriving before Hearth and Home is planned and a teaser for the update’s content was shared. Specifically,Valheim’s troll, second boss, and third boss are getting visual updates, so Iron Gate AB dropped a screenshot of the new troll. Players will have to wait and see thenewValheimboss visualsfor themselves.
Content updates are coming forValheimin the months and years to come. Iron Gate AB has the financing to make exactly the kind of game that it wants, whether it wants to do it with the team it has or with a greatly expanded team.
