Schell Games has announcedI Expect You to Die 3: Cog in the Machine, the third release in its popular virtual reality spy game series.I Expect You To Diehas proven to be one of the modern virtual reality era’s most exciting indie series, offering a unique mix of first-person puzzle-solving and humor.I Expect You to Die 3will be continuing that legacy of challenging death trap puzzles, spy movie trope satire, and surprising explosions when it arrives onPCand Meta Quest platforms later in 2023.
The firstI Expect You to Diecapitalized on the start of the modern virtual reality resurgence in a way few others managed. It arrived in late 2016, the year that both the Oculus Rift and the first PlayStation VR launched. Schell Games took that success andcreatedI Expect You to Die 2: The Spy and the Liar, which launched in 2021, for PC, PS4, and Oculus Quest VR. Now Schell Games is back with more.

WithI Expect You to Die 3: Cog in the Machine, Schell Games is promising its most dangerous adventure yet. Not only will players be facing off against Zoraxis, the main villain of theI Expect You to Dieseries, but also a new “brilliant mastermind” villain. Players will need to utilize an arsenal of new gadgets, spy tools, and disguises to solve all manner of puzzles and survive – if they can.
Schell Games has announcedI Expect You to Die 3for release in 2023. It will be coming to PC VR on Steam as well as theMeta Quest platform, covering all the virtual reality headsets those platforms support. While pricing has yet to be announced, both prior games in theI Expect You to Dieseries were offered for $24.99.
Some might be curious whyI Expect You to Die 3isn’t also announced for the PlayStation VR2 and there’s no answer for why that is. BothI Expect You to Dieand its sequel were released for PlayStation VR at launch. It’s still more than possible thatI Expect You to Die 3willsupport PlayStation VR2when it arrives later in 2023. Perhaps Sony wants to make a bigger announcement of it, or Schell Games needs some more time to get used to developing on the new headset.
