Final Fantasy 14is not only an experience well-worth its years of praise and awards, but it’s also a gigantic love letter to all the pieces of the franchise that came before and after it. The potential ofa collaboration betweenFF14andFF16has been hotly anticipatedfor a while, namely in part due to the similarities between the game’s aethetics, story elements, and even because of their shared director Naoki Yoshida. In the face of fan demands, Yoshida would tease the event by saying that he would have to ask the supposedly similarly named director of the other game if the collaboration was okay. Now, it seems Yoshi-P has made peace with himself, and Square Enix, to make the event a fun reality for players.
What We Currently Know About the Final Fantasy 16 Event for Final Fantasy 14
Just like the very similarFinal Fantasy 15event that just recently returned inFF14earlier in March, there will be a series of quests players can obtain to go on an adventure with a story leading into a fight with Ifrit, obtaining Clive’s signature armor as gear and a mount of Clive’s dog Torgal for completing it. There are other items available as part of the event as well, but it’s likely that they’re obtained through the Gold Saucer’s MGP.The full list of what the crossover The Path Infernal event contains can be found below.
All of these items are untradable, with the Clive Rosfield card being the only item that isn’t unique also. This means players need to play the event to get these items, which they can only do with characters that are level 50, and have played through all of A Realm Reborn.
What Expectations to Have for Final Fantasy 14’s The Path Infernal FF16 Event
Thanks to theFinal Fantasy 15event, A Nocturne for Heroes, being very similar toFinal Fantasy 16’s The Path Infernal, it’s very easy to understand just how the upcoming event will work. Clive’s armor is given away for completing the event’s questlinealong with the Torgal mount, which is a very welcome change to how the infamous Regalia car mount was exclusive to the Gold Saucer. It’s highly likely that the questline will deal with the Warrior of Light teaming up with Clive to battle Ifrit just as Noctis did, if not any other Eikons fromFF16.
Due to the fact that players willneed to clear A Realm Rebornand be level 50 to get the questline, new players interested in theFinal Fantasy 16collaboration should get started on making progress now or look into a paid story skip through theFinal Fantasy 14online store. It’s also not known which items will be made into Gold Saucer prizes just yet, so fans should be wary and try to save up MGP just in case between now and when the event begins on April 2.
