The latest patch forWorld of Warcraftis here, and it brings with it a slew of exciting changes. Players will be able to embark on a new adventure across time, they will be able to discover the powers of the Augmentation Evoker, and will be able to gather all sorts of new unique collectibles across the Dragon Isles. All this content is a fantastic addition toWorld of Warcraft, but one of the best new features comes in the form of a new Warlock pet customization mechanic.
World of Warcraft’s warlocksbattle alongside powerful demons, but players have never had control over what their trusty companion looks like. They have only been able to decide what type of demon fights with them, but patch 10.1.5 is finally changing that. Now, warlock players will be able to customize their demon pet at the barbershop with a bunch of new skins and features. This will give players immense control over how they present themselves on Azeroth, and it is something that should carry over to hunter pets.

WoW’s Hunter Pets Could Thrive With Customization
World of Warcraft’s hunters also battle alongside pets, but they have always had a bit more control over what this pet looks like. Unlike warlocks, hunters can traverse the world and tame all sorts of different pets during their adventure.Using the Tame Beast ability, hunters can turn any beast they discover into their new companion. These beasts will then join the hunter on their travels and may quickly become their new best friend. They can also switch between five different pets on a whim and can store 200 unused ones in stables across the world.
This freedom has givenWorld of Warcraft’s huntersimmense control over how they present themselves, and it is something that warlocks were never able to do. It is great that Blizzard has finally given them control over their characters, but now it should replicate the feature for hunters. While the countless amounts of tameable beasts are fantastic, it would be even cooler if players had more control over the specific look of these tameable beasts.
Hunters should be able to head to anyWorld of Warcraftbarbershop and choose from a slew of unique cosmetics. They should be able to alter the hair length of a cat, adjust the wingspan of a dragonhawk, give a dinosaur visible injuries, or even put a top hat on a turtle. There could be dozens of new cosmetics with each beast type having its own exclusive items, and players should be able tounlock them as they traverse Azeroth. It would not only give players immense freedom but could also let the developers run wild with funny ideas.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflighthas been about giving players control over who they are, and that makes it the perfect time for a feature like this. Blizzard has been introducing dozens ofnew cosmetics through the Trading Post, it has expanded the various race customizations, and has been stripping away many barriers that have prevented players from living out their Azerothian dreams. Every patch seems to add even more customization options to the mix, and hopefully future content will give hunters the control they have been yearning for.
Giving players this much control over their pet’s appearance may be a lot of work, but it would be worth the effort. This new warlock demon customization shows that Blizzard wants to give players that freedom, and now it just needs to take the concept to the next level. While it will likely be a while before a feature like this crops up, it cannot come soon enough.
