Soon,World of Warcraft: Dragonflightplayers will receive an excellent quality-of-life update to their user interface. These planned changes to the user interface are currently available forWorld of Warcraftplayers to test on the public test realm (PTR) and provide feedback to Blizzard before its future implementation on live servers.

When theDragonflightexpansion launched in the fall of 2022, the defaultuser interface forWorld of Warcraftreceived its largest faceliftsince the game’s 2004 launch. Previously,World of Warcraftplayers that wanted to fully customize their interface has to use any number of add-ons such as Bartender and ElvUI to get the job done. While add-ons for the game are still widely used for different purposes, theWorld of Warcraftdevelopment team has taken strides to ensure the standard user interface can be customized without add-ons. The current build of the PTR made more changes to the user interface, including one that will be visible from the start.

According to Wowhead, the micro menu buttons will be colored in Patch 10.1.5,Fractures in Time. The update does not have a release date at the time of writing but is currently available on the PTR for players to try outalongside other quality-of-life updatesthat will go live in the future. Currently, in Patch 10.1, the micro menu buttons appear in gray but can be moved around to suit the needs of any player. Prior toDragonflight, the micro menu has colored buttons and a character portrait on the left side of the menu, both of which vanished whenDragonflightwent live. However, those features will return in Patch 10.1.5 with a new color palette, while still retaining the same basic features it currently has.

For those that prefer the grayscale version of the user interface as it is currently, that feature is currently not available on the PTR for players to select. In the meantime, players are encouraged to provide feedback on the PTR forboth Patch 10.1.5 and for future content updates.

Even though Patch 10.1.5 is considered a minor patch compared to previousWorld of Warcraftupdates, the new features and quality-of-life updates coming to the game are nothing to sneeze at. It remains to be seen what further improvements Blizzard will make to World of Warcraft’s interface in the future.
