The news arrived just before the impending launch of Fractures in Time, andWorld of Warcraftplayers shared their thoughts on how handy these weapons could be in a fight.
In Fractures in Time,World of Warcraftplayers have plenty of new activitiesto take part in when the update launches in July. In addition to class changes and the new Augmentation Evoker specialization, players will be tasked with closing Time Rifts and organized parties will have a chance to experience some moments inWorld of Warcraft’s history in the Dawn of the Infinite mega-dungeon. Should players brave the time-twisted battles, they will be rewarded with weapons from the franchise’s history, and some of them will provide unique benefits to the wielder.

According to Wowhead, the “Divergent” weapons that players can loot in the Dawn of the Infinite mega-dungeon will have some new tertiary statistics that offer unique effects when they proc. Though these stats are not calculated in the same sense as others such as Haste and Leech, some have names such as Demonbane and Scourgebane. According to dataminers, Demonbane has a chance to proc from Gorehowl, the fabled axe of Grommash Hellscream, which causes damage over time to demons. Plus, Scourgebane has a chance to deal Holy damage to undead enemies. Two additional statistics, Timestrike and Spirit, have some interesting facts. While the effect of Timestrike is not known at the time of writing, Spirit is actually a removed statistic for healers from previousWorld of Warcraftpatches. As it did in the past, Spirit will grant mana regeneration to the wielder.
However, further datamining indicated the new stats are only in name, as they are more of a code word for the effects that can proc when these weapons are used. While it remains to be seen if these effects will have any practical useoutside the Dawn of the Infinite mega-dungeon,World of Warcraftplayers on social media expressed some interest in collecting these weapons for their transmogrification collections. If nothing else, like other weapons inDragonflightSeason 2, the Divergent weapons can be upgraded with currencies.
Thankfully,World of Warcraftplayers will not have long to wait beforetraversing the alternate timelinesin Fractures in Time. But, it is anyone’s guess if the Divergent weapons will be a one-time thing, or if it will lead to Blizzard further experimenting with new stats and weapon procs in the future.
