When Microsoft acquired Bethesda and its studios, it did so at a time when various exclusivity deals had already been made. Microsoft honored pre-existing Bethesda exclusivity deals, meaning it essentially published games likeDeathloopandGhostwire: Tokyoon PlayStation 5. However, it’s always been assumed that once the exclusivity deals for those games ran out that they would immediately come to Xbox, and in the case ofDeathloop, it’s looking like that time is almost here.

Even though we’re close toDeathloop’s PS5 exclusivity window closing, there hasn’t been any announcements made about the game’s potential Xbox port. It’s possible that’s part of the deal made with Sony, though finer details like that aren’t known at this time. In any case,Deathloopshould be a huge get for Game Passwhenever it does finally come to the service, as it was one of the most critically-acclaimed games released last year and is in fact one of the highest-rated PS5 titles to date.
Deathloopreviewswere very flattering, with high praise for the game’s unique time loop gameplay and Arkane’s signature style of first-person shooting action. It’s certainly worth the purchase at full price, so being able to play the game through Xbox Game Pass is going to be a steal. The question remains, though, whetherDeathloopwill be one of the new Xbox Game Pass games for September 2022, or if Microsoft is going to sit on the game a little longer.

Deathloopwould be a great way to spice up thenew Xbox Game Pass games for September 2022, but it’s possible Microsoft will want to wait and release it at a later date so that it has more time to properly promote it. Perhaps theDeathloopXbox port announcement will come shortly after the PS5 exclusivity window ends in September, and the game itself will launch in October or November.
All of this is just speculation at this time. We can’t say for certain how Microsoft plans on rolling out theDeathloopXbox port, but we do know that whenever the game does launch, it will almost certainly do so as a day one Xbox Game Pass game.
Deathloopis available now for PC and PS5.
