Shrines are back as a key gameplay mechanic inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Just as they were inBreath of the Wild, players will need to navigate over 150 of these smaller combat and puzzle zones to earn a Light of Blessing, which can be exchanged for ahealth or stamina upgrade when turning in four to a Goddess Statue.Tears of the Kingdomadds an interesting wrinkle though, by not just including shrines in Hyrule, but a bunch within the sky islands as well.

As expected, these shrines all offer a different challenge to overcome includingcombat tutorials like the Kamizun Shrine in Hyrule Field. Others offer more traditional puzzles involving one or more of the new Zonai abilities Link gains access to at the start of the game. The sheer variety of gameplay will likely keep players on their toes, never being quite sure what the game is going to throw at them next.

While most shrines are self-contained zones, there are some that are unique in that they are hidden inside an external area. Where is the Chichim Shrine?

In order to location the Ancient Prison Ruins, players will need to head to the Gerudo Desert area in the southwestern portion of the map. East of Gerudo Town is an area called the Palu Wasteland with a strand swirling whirlpool of quicksand. It’s also worth noting that this area of the desert will have extreme heat temperatures, soZeldaplayers should make sure to have items or clothing that can help withstand those intense weather conditions.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayers can use these coordinates to pinpoint the exact location: -3090, -3055, 0100.

While it may seem ill-advised, players should jump into the whirlpool where they will be dumped out into the Ancient Prison Ruins.

Ancient Prison Ruins/Chichim Shrine Walkthrough

The goal of this area is to locate the Chichim Shrine, which is hidden somewhere within the ruins. The Ancient Prison Ruins features a mix of combat and puzzle solving, combing many elements from the more traditionalThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomshrines.

First things first, players should run down the first hallway and useLink’s Ultrahand abilityon the large lever to open the gate. This hallway also has plenty of deposits that can be smashed with a hammer to potentially uncover gemstones, amber, flint, and luminous stones as well.

Through the gate, players can take a right to find arrows strewn about a small room. Turn back and head to the left to face off against the mummy like Gibdo monsters so be sure to use fire-enhanced attacks for the best results. There are many side rooms along this corridor which can be ignored, but players should continue following and head around to the right to find a statue pointing at a half-opened gate with a sword.

Follow the advice and head under the gate and then drop through the broken floor while ignoring the lever for now. Crouch down and crawl through the low opening to the right and continue following the corridor to the left where more Gibdo and electric Chuchu are waiting. In the far corner of the chamber, players should climb a pile of rubble which takes them back to the floor above.

However, the floor will collapse and expose aBubbulfrog to earn an easy Bubbul Gem for Koltin. There’s another statue here as well pointing the correct direction, so continue following the hallway to a closed gate with two lit fires. The shrine is on the other side of the bars and with nowhere else to go, players should use Link’s Ascend ability to head up into a new chamber. A chest in this room has a Gerudo Scimitar.

Use Ultrahand on the Stone Slabs on the floor of this room to find a hidden lever that can be moved. Doing so reveals a hidden doorway that leads to the Chichim Shrine, the Blessing of Light, and a Mighty Zonaite Spear.
