The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis filled with exciting boss fights, including some of the most creative that the series has seen to date. Like many otherZeldagames, some of the best boss fights see players go up against Ganon, or at least variations of him.The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomhas Link battling various Ganon forms multiple times near the end of the adventure, including the deadly Phantom Ganon.

Phantom Ganon is a unique encounter in that players have to fight him during theCrisis at Hyrule Castle quest, but they can also encounter him elsewhere in the game world as well. Phantom Ganon spreads gloom, a toxic substance that can damage Link and keep him from fully healing. Reddit user Imadurozan discovered that if players try to hide from Phantom Ganon during one of these encounters that he will start spreading gloom around the entire area in search of Link.
This was demonstrated in a clip that they shared on Reddit, showing Akala Citadel Ruins completely covered in gloom thanks to Phantom Ganon. It seems many otherTears of the Kingdomplayers were unaware thatPhantom Ganon had this ability, if the reaction to the post is any indication. It’s likely that most players fight him head-on whenever they come across him and either succeed in their fight or die in battle, and so they’ve never had the chance to see this power on display.
It’s a testament to just how bigThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis that someone could play the game for 300 hours and still find things that they’ve never seen before. There are many other examples ofZelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayers making unexpected discoveriesdespite having put a significant amount of time into the open world adventure, and it’s likely these stories will continue to be posted online in the near future.
After all,Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomhas smashed sales recordsand will likely have serious legs, meaning new players will be picking it up for months if not years to come. These new players may too stumble on some discoveries in the game, and it will be interesting to see what the community finds while exploring this absolutely massive world that Nintendo has created.
